Queries, questing, voyeurism, words on the Internet…

Description

On stage, an actor and two protagonists activate the “Internet” system. Working with new technologies and make-shift tinkering, they make other people’s desires visible.
A 4x3m computer screen is centered on the stage, facing forward. The screen is made up of Venetian blinds and positions us between inside and outside.

The protagonist is more than a character in the performance; he is a mediator. What does he seek in his hypnotic observation of other people’s desires? What about the audience, a group of potential Internet users, what have they searched recently?

DATA + explores queries, on the one hand, as symptoms of our society, and on the other hand, as commercial merchandise. Behind the semantic and semiological value of words, DATA + analyses the social, economic and political structures that organize and determine the Internet. Above and beyond Internet, it is a homage to words.

Just like there are keywords, there are lockwords, keywords open the doors of lockwords.
A lockword is a word that opens up onto nothing.
Like “confirut”, a keyword changes a lockword into a word that is something. :
A keyword gives meaning where there is none, confirut makes sense if my keyword opens it.
