De la mémoire et du devenir d’un lieu, d’un bâtiment, d’un immeuble, de la présence dAbout the memory and the future of a place, a building ; about presence of office employees, absence, doubt, someone else, other people, everyday gestures, a different kind of voyeurism…

Captation de la Nuit Blanche du 2 octobre 2010. La performance 47 rue T a été jouée 20 fois entre 19h et 5h30. Site RATP Est, sous station Daumesnil, 47 rue de Toul, 75012 Paris.

Description

It is nighttime ; people pass, going here and there. The building is lit up in a strange, unusual way. The light seems to come from the building itself.

A pre-recorded image of a part of the building is projected life-size on the building. The blinds are closed, the building looks empty. A blind opens, then closes ; a light turns on and off in an office.

What we see is an image of the blind, an image of the light, then an image of an “employee” smoking his cigarette at the window…

More and more people appear. Some of the employees (performers) that we see on the pre-recorded image appear live, and interfere with the image, with their own images. They move in and out of rooms, open real windows… influence and create a dialogue with the filmed employees.

A condensed version of 47 Rue T, a nearly ordinary day in the office observed through a 30-minute performance. Janitorial services at dawn, the arrival of employees, opening the mail, reading technical documents, a coffee break, telephone calls… a lunch break, a meeting… time to go home. But something about the employees stays behind when everyone has gone home, a little part of them…
